Lots of books, undercover videos, and documentaries expose the flaws in the system, inciting outrage and spurring laws in order to protect the industry from the prying eyes of the public. This video is named “Samsara” which explores the modern food process through an artistic approach. It takes the viewer on a journey through poultry, pork facilities, and cattle, a fast food restaurant, a grocery store, ending with a visit to the doctor’s office. No shots of beaten pigs showed, no activists rallying for a better welfare of animals. “Samsara” is not about the food industry only, while the filmmakers claim they do not have an agenda. This is about the feelings and inner journey rather than an intellectual experience. The team is not trying to say anything.
The website on this film explains that it is the “ever turning wheel of life” in Sanskrit and is meant to showcase “the point of departure for the filmmakers while they search for the elusive current of interconnection that runs through our lives”. It was filmed in 25 different countries in order to explain the mirroring of the life cycle on the planet’s rhythm.
