Although not exactly dangerous, coughs and colds can be very annoying. They are also easy to treat during the day, but become a nightmare overnight, interrupting your sleep and the sleep of those around you. Coughs and colds especially affect children due to their weak immune system.
There are many over the counter syrups which can relieve the symptoms, but they only suppress the pathway of signals in the brain that trigger coughing. Most of them contain codeine and dextromethorphan as well which will make you fall asleep, but cause adverse side-effects such as headaches, drowsiness and irregular heartbeat.

Honey ginger wraps
Preparing the honey wraps is very simple – all you need are the following ingredients:
Mix the honey and flour first, then add some coconut oil and ginger juice before re-rolling the mixture in flour. Put the mixture on a napkin and wrap it with a gauze. Apply the honey-ginger wrap on your child’s neck or back and secure it with a bandage, then put on their pajamas and leave them in bed. Keep the wrap on their chest for 2-3 hours before bedtime.
Adults can keep the wrap on their chest or back overnight. The treatment should cause excessive sweating and has no side-effects, but don’t leave the wrap on your child’s chest for long as it may irritate their gentle skin.
